This staggering gap is what creates a good demand for CFP’s in today’s market. Following are certain career opportunities for a qualified CFP.

Banks: One may look at banks as a career option on successful completion of CFP course. Most of the banks have a Wealth Management division/ department. The profile in general would be to advise HNI’s and UHNI’s on their investment avenues.

NBFC’s: These days, Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFC’s) would also prefer a CFP to advice clients on various securities that they deal with. It includes Shares, stocks, bonds, debentures, etc. A CFP will also gain profound understanding of the practical aspects of these instruments.

Insurance Companies: With a lot of information available on the web, Insurance Companies look for CFP’s to provide a Goal based approach to their clients. The profile would mainly include assessment of Client’s requirement and advice a suitable policy accordingly.

Mutual Fund Companies: One of the most popular way of wealth building is through Mutual funds over a long period of time. In relation to this, a CFP would add tremendous value to an Asset Management Company to advise clients through a Financial Planning approach. The profile would also include suggesting best suited funds towards each of the clients’ goals.

Stock Broking Firms: Almost every stock broking firm has a research and advisory team today. CFP’s would fit into the research/ advisory team perfectly and hence this would be a decent option to opt for. CFP’s would also be an interface to all the HNI’s that the broking firms deals with.

Equity Research Firms: There are good number of equity research firms today. The main objective to continuously carry out research across various sectors in the Indian Equity Market. As qualified CFP’s, we would be preferred here too.

Financial Planning Companies: Ideal place for CFP’s who want to get into core Financial Planning process. The profile would be to interact with clients, draw Financial Plans, followed by Implementation and Monitoring. You have a choice to choose between a large established Financial Planning firm or a medium size ‘growing’ financial planning firm.

Wealth Management Companies: CFP’s can also look at Wealth Management Companies as a career option. Since Wealth Management has a wider scope as compared to Financial Planning, it would be a solid platform to know about Structured Products and Alternate Investment avenues.

Family Office Firms: There are decent number of Family Offices firms in India which one may look for. The scope of work would be wider than that of Wealth Management Companies as the client has to be advised on Investments, Cash Flow, Taxation, Legal and much more.

Start your own practice: Individuals who would want to be independent can start their own practice in the field of Financial Planning and Wealth Management. Ofcourse, this would involve meticulous planning and execution of ideas within the legal framework. One should also be aware of latest regulations while running your own firm.

Bravo! With a whole lot of career options available, what are you waiting for? Register for the CFP course and get certified at the earliest!!
