Dear PMP aspirants,

The PMBOK® Guide sixth edition is expected to be released by 6th of September 2017.

A brief note on the expected changes are listed below for your ready reference. Kindly make a note of it and plan your preparation accordingly.

What are the changes?

  • There is going to be a separate section defining the ‘The Role of the Project Manager’ to lead the projects effectively and efficiently. This includes the PMI Talent Triangle®

  • A new process has been introduced in Project Integration Management – Manage Project Knowledge – focusing on Lessons Learned

  • In Project Scope Management – The collaboration aspects or the relationship between Business Analyst & Project Manager are discussed

  • In Project Quality Management – Perform Quality Assurance into Manage Quality as many organizations do not have Quality Assurance department and it may be outsourced

  • Project Risk Management – Considers overall project risks and added a risk response called ‘Escalate’. The risks are needed to be escalated either to Program or Portfolio level

  • Project Communication Management – includes project communications during the engagement including video communications etc.,

  • Project Stakeholder Management – the view has been slightly changed from Management to Engagement as we need engage the stakeholders

  • The Knowledge Areas ‘Project Time Management’ & ‘Project Human Resource Management’ are renamed to ‘Project Schedule Management’ & ‘Project Resource Management’.

The exam content outline would undergo significant changes and expected to be implemented during 1st quarter of 2018. The PMI has not disclosed the dates. The current content is applicable until then for all aspirants.
